Thirst is worse than homesickness. Who is much and long on the road with the bike, can sing a song about it. If you consider that the body already loses up to 1.2 liters of fluid and about 0.5 percent table salt at medium load and normal ambient temperature, you can imagine approximately how high the fluid loss can be only at intensive load such as cycling. But since the body can only absorb a maximum of 0.8 liters of fluid per hour, you should drink regularly before, during and after exercise to make up for the loss of fluids and minerals. Some manufacturers then also call this new German "TruTaste" polypropylene. In simpler terms, this means that these drinking bottles are absolutely tasteless and antibacterial. If you prefer carbonated drinks, you should make sure that the drinking bottle is also suitable for such beverages.

Self-closing valves guarantee fast drinking pleasure without liquid leakage

Modern drinking bottles for cyclists usually have self-closing valves, so-called jet valves. They do not allow liquid to escape even when open and, thanks to their high liquid flow rate, guarantee that you can quickly enjoy your drink without having to fiddle with the cap for a long time first. Special mouthpieces also allow for easy dosing. If you like to mix your own drinks, you should also make sure that the water bottle has a relatively large opening through which you can add powdered drinks or ice cubes if necessary. That a bicycle bottle should be leak-proof goes without saying.

Who attaches importance to a constant temperature of his taken drink, buys a drinking bottle with special insulation. Insulated bottles keep cold drinks pleasantly cool for a long time and warm drinks warm in winter.

The drinking bottle should be easy and quick to clean

Furthermore, the drinking bottle should be easy to clean. Otherwise, you run the risk that the bottle after a while begins to smell unpleasant. After all, some drinking bottles have the habit of taking on the smell of the drink. And who wants to drink mineral water from a drinking bottle that smells like herbal tea. Dishwasher-safe drinking bottles are easy to clean and prevent unpleasant odors. When cleaning, don't forget the mouthpiece of the drinking bottle. Residue tends to accumulate on the valve, which could develop a life of its own in the form of mold and fungus in the long term. There are disinfectants for drinking bottles, but why complicate things if you can do them easily? Who wants to be on the safe side, puts on a brush set, with which one can clean both the drinking bottles and valves as well as the hoses of drinking hose systems hygienically.
