AERODYNAMIC BOTTOM BEARING, VERY LIGHT AND ULTRASTIFF

The Look ZED 3 bottom bracket is the latest evolution of Look's carbon technology for power transmission. It picks up on the already exceptional features of the ZED 2, while being even more aerodynamic thanks to the carbon star that covers the two chainrings. This carbon flange forms a 100% monobloc with the rest of the bottom bracket, into which the attachment points for the two chainrings are integrated. The chainrings are therefore attached out of the bottom bracket, the bottom bracket has to be removed from the frame for this quick and easy process. The ZED 3 from Look was developed with the aim of achieving optimum stiffness with the lowest possible weight. At only 360g, it has a record weight (star, shaft and cranks, but without chainrings), making it the lightest aerodynamic road bottom bracket currently available on the market. It is extremely stiff. The weight/stiffness ratio is by far the best on the market.

NEW CARBON SHAFT WITH THREAD WITH SELF ADJUSTING RINGS

Installation, removal, maintenance and adjustment of the bottom bracket are particularly easy thanks to the new shaft, which allows the two bottom brackets to remain in the frame when the bottom bracket is removed. Automatic play compensation is also provided: By tightening the outer retaining ring of the ZED, the play is automatically eliminated. For further weight savings and even greater precision, a thread is machined directly into the shaft (eliminating the need for attachable aluminium rings).

COMPATIBLE TO 110 AND 130 SHAFT SPACING DOUBLE AND COMPACT CHAINBLADES

The carbon star of the ZED 3 bottom bracket is suitable for double chainrings (shaft spacing 130mm) or compact chainrings (shaft spacing 110mm) with an absolutely flat outer surface (the surface rests against the star). The use of LOOK chainrings is recommended for the ZED 3 because their design and stiffness have been specially developed to ensure perfect interaction. Special chainring bolts are included with the bottom bracket.

MONOBLOCK CONSTRUCTION

The exceptional features of the ZED 3 are also the merit of the monobloc construction. The two cranks together with the shaft form a single carbon part cast under very high pressure. The cohesion of the individual carbon layers and the fibre direction were optimised. The cranks of the ZED 3 bottom bracket are hollow, no aluminium reinforcement adds weight to the construction. The shaft has a special shape so that the bottom bracket can be inserted into the frame with a very precise sequence of movements.

COMPATIBLE CURB LENGTH N:

The cranks of the ZED 3 bottom bracket are equipped with a Tri-Lobe nut, which you only have to turn to one of the three positions to adjust the length of the cranks.
