SmartGRIP +: DURABLE AND SUSTAINABLE
The new SmartGRIP + compound tyre is an evolution of the material Pirelli has used for its Scorpion-MTB tyres. It is produced in Pirelli's racing factories, where the compounds for the famous F1 tyres are developed.
Innovative about this new formula is the addition of lignin to the base compound. This chemical substance has a natural origin, coming from waste paper recycling. It is a low-impact additive that improves the performance of the rubber, especially in relation to the speed and torque characteristics of modern E-MTBs.
In addition, this performance enhancement does not affect any of the other typical characteristics, such as z being the only chemical grip, the original SmartGRIP compound.
The result is a version of SmartGRIP that offers superior performance and traction on wet or dry surfaces. All this combined with Pirelli's recognised excellence in tyre manufacturing. The cyclist benefits from the excellent performance of the new Scorpion eMTB tyres even at higher speeds and higher torques typical of e-offroad riding. This mix of properties was developed by Pirelli with the aim of offering advantages in terms of smoothness and grip on uneven surfaces, with improved overall handling.
