The XD3 is a comprehensively equipped powerhouse in the premium e-bike segment. It is ideal for anyone who wants to enjoy extended off-road tours in addition to their daily commute. In fact, an e-mountain bike also for the city, we have consistently designed the XD3 to be high-quality and low-maintenance: Instead of a chain, it has the Gates Carbon Drive. This gives the XD3 an unprecedentedly long-lasting drivetrain, which can handle tens of thousands of kilometres without maintenance or special care.

Effortlessly and without significant wear, it can even cope with the enormous 85 Nm torque of the most powerful motors from BOSCH (4th generation "2022"), which we already install in the basic equipment. We consistently complement these with the largest Bosch battery available with 625 Wh. With the Dual Battery Option, the energy supply even increases to a huge 1125 Wh. This makes more than 300 kilometres at a stretch possible. Equipped like this, the XD3 leaves nothing to be desired.

The slim Supernova lighting system and the Wingee mudguard luggage rack underline the minimalist design signature. Pure understatement from HNF-NICOLAI.

Including Rohloff Speedhub 500 E14 Update
Since 1996, the Rohloff SPEEDHUB gear hub has been the benchmark for hub gears worldwide. Its efficiency, precision, shifting range and durability are legendary. Not only since Rohloff added the e-14 electronics to it, the SPEEDHUB represents the optimum in reliability, shifting speed and comfort.

The Rohloff SPEEDHUB has by far the highest gear range of all gear hubs. At the same time, it has the highest efficiency - also far ahead of all other gear hubs. It thus transmits the massive forces of an e-bike more efficiently than any other gear hub. Its 526% transmission bandwidth, a masterpiece of German engineering, has been the measure of all things for gear hubs for almost 25 years and has never been achieved by any other hub. They make the Rohloff the ideal gearstick for the toughest climbs and the fastest descents at the same time - even on fast speed pedelecs (45 km/h).

With only one quick oil change per year, the 14-speed hub gearstick is not only extremely low-maintenance, but above all also unsurpassed in durability. It is not without reason that circumnavigators, extreme athletes and adventurers around the globe ride Rohloff. Total mileages of over 100,000 kilometres speak for themselves, and even more than 326,000 kilometres have already been certified. This also makes it clear: changing expensive sprocket sets of conventional derailleurs, which always wear out extremely quickly on e-bikes, is finally a thing of the past with a Rohloff SPEEDHUB. Despite the comparatively high purchase price, the Rohloff is usually more cost-effective in the long run than any derailleur, especially for frequent riders. Because the additional price is usually amortised after 15,000 kilometres at the latest.

But what would the best sensible solution be worth if it wasn't also incredibly fun? The linear gradation of the Rohloff SPEEDHUB guarantees smooth shifting and riding. The combination of the huge overall gear ratio and the 14 evenly graduated gears enables precise shifting in perfect coordination. And also in terms of shifting speed, the E-14 outshines almost every derailleur - it shifts the Rohloff SPEEDHUB through all gears in the shortest time - even when stationary.

SPEEDHUB meets Bosch
In combination with the Bosch Intuvia and Kiox displays, the SPEEDHUB shows off its full capabilities. The gears are changed with a light press of the electronic button on the steering handle. All gear changes of the E-14 are not only shown on the display, but also actively synchronised with the motor control. The Bosch e-bike system works perfectly with the Rohloff E-14. With every gear change, the Bosch system takes the load off the drivetrain for a tiny moment, allowing a new gear to be engaged in just 180 milliseconds.

Another feature that makes riding the SPEEDHUB a real pleasure is the Multi-Shift function. It makes it possible to shift up or down 3 gears in one step. And thanks to Auto-Downshift, the Bosch e-bike system automatically resets the Rohloff E-14 to your individually set starting gear when you stop at traffic lights.

Rohloff - hub gears of the future
The future starts now: In all HNF-NICOLAI e-bikes, an electronic system controls the Rohloff E-14 SPEEDHUB. This consists of two components: the electronic shift unit on the handlebar and the shift control unit on the SPEEDHUB. In order to be prepared for the future, the Rohloff E-14 can import updates via radio, modify features or also grant access to different apps.

The innovation for all bikers, whether recreational or professional, the Abus Bordo 6015/90 folding lock is the ideal combination of resistance, weight and transport size. The joint design offers maximum flexibility and reduces the size while maintaining a high level of security. With ABUS Security Level 10, it offers good protection for medium theft risk and is recommended for securing good two-wheelers.

With only 2.9kg and a 48% reduction in size, the new Bosch CX motor is the new benchmark for mid-range motors. It accelerates extremely powerful, reacts without delay and now supports with up to 340% (4th generation). Its new gear concept significantly reduces pedalling resistance when the drive is switched off, so that a natural riding feeling is achieved even above 25 km/h.

Intuvia Active
Intuvia Active is fitted as standard on the XD3. Simple, intuitive and safe operation on the separate control unit and a large display characterise this on-board computer. Not only switching between the five riding modes plus push assist, but also retrieving information such as speed, charging status, distance and much more could not be easier. In addition, the shift recommendation shows the optimal moment to change gear by means of an arrow display.

RockShox Recon
The Recon by RockShox is the ideal suspension fork for the XD3 Premium e-Bike: it combines low weight with an extremely stiff chassis. With the particularly strong RockShox steel stand tubes, it allows for a large suspension travel of 120mm. Thanks to Motion ControlRL damping, this makes the RECON the new reference for ultimate riding fun.

Gates Carbon Drive
What better way to power an e-bike than with technology that originated in high-horsepower motorbikes and dragoons? None! And that's why we chose the Gates Carbon Drive for the development of the HNF-Nicolai e-bikes. Because the belt drive developed by Gates Corp. is a high-performance technology that has been perfected for e-bikes. It consists of two metal pulleys and a high-strength belt embedded in carbon fibre cables.

And the best thing for everyday cycling: the carbon reinforced belt drive is practically maintenance-free. A little water on it every now and then to get the dirt off - on it goes. And it lasts up to four times longer than a chain drive.

In addition, the polyurethane coating guarantees absolute resistance to rust. The stretch-free carbon fibre technology makes the belt 20% lighter and lasts up to 10 times longer than any chain. Supernova Mini 2
The extremely compact design of the Supernova MINI 2 uses the new Terralux3 lens. The brightness has been increased to over 15% percent and is now 235 lumens. The built-in overvoltage protection in combination with a soft start when switched on ensures a long service life for the MINI 2. Thanks to sophisticated light control, the Terraflux lens directs 90% of the light to where it is needed most: on the road.
